                             RESOLUTION NO. 20299
        
        
                  A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO 
                  APPROACH THE HAMILTON COUNTY BOARD OF 
                  EDUCATION TO REACH AN INTER-GOVERNMENTAL 
                  AGREEMENT WITH THE HAMILTON COUNTY BOARD OF 
                  EDUCATION TO WORK OUT THE TRANSITION OF THE 
                  OPERATION OF THE CITY SCHOOLS TO THE 
                  HAMILTON COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEM IF THE VOTERS 
                  AUTHORIZE THE SAME IN THE REFERENDUM TO BE 
                  HELD NOVEMBER 8, 1994, SUBJECT TO FURTHER 
                  APPROVAL OF THIS COUNCIL

                  BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF 
        CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, that the Mayor be and is hereby 
        authorized to approach the Hamilton County Board of Education 
        to reach an inter-governmental agreement with the Hamilton 
        County Board of Education to work out the transition of the 
        operation of the City Schools to the Hamilton County School 
        System if the voters authorize the same in the referendum to be 
        held November 8, 1994, subject to further approval of this 
        Council.
